SAR Fellow Candidate Form

Nominated candidates for SAR Fellow status (FSAR) must submit their completed online form by the listed deadline:

The Fellow membership category in the SAR is reserved for members who have been Active or International members of the SAR for at least five (5) consecutive years and demonstrate at least three (3) years of involvement in the Society.  The nominated Fellow candidate shall:


  • Have made a significant contribution to the field of abdominal radiology
  • Be a Diplomate of the American Board of Radiology, the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, or have equivalent qualifications otherwise acceptable to the Membership Committee
  • Be engaged in the practice, teaching or research of abdominal radiology
  • Be assessed annual dues, hold the right to vote, may serve on committees, and be eligible for the elected offices or for the appointment as standing committee chairs
  • Maintain Fellow status by remaining actively involved in the Society by attending at least three (3) of five (5) consecutive Society meetings.

NOTE:  Be sure that you have all required supporting materials ready to be uploaded with your application.  

  • A copy of your current CV
  • Two (2) sponsorship letters from current SAR Fellows
  • A letter of interest in becoming a Fellow of the SAR; this letter must include documentation that more than fifty percent (50%) of your professional medical practice is devoted to the active practice of abdominal radiology. This may include: abdominal section division head, abdominal fellowship director, responsibility for residency teaching on abdominal topics, relevant publications, sub-specialty training, abdominal “go to” person in a group practice etc. The letter should also include a statement of how the new fellow will contribute to the society long term.
  • Copies of at least five (5) peer reviewed publications related to abdominal imaging in a radiology journal in the past eight (8) years and acceptable to the Membership Committee. The applicant must be either first, second or senior author on a minimum of three (3) of these publications.
  • List of contributions to the society as an active member over a three (3) year period. This may include committee or DFP membership, annual meeting presentations, etc.
  • List of leadership role(s) in the practice of abdominal radiology.
